Question: engine wont rev past 4000

i recently had a steering rack problem, i still haven't fixed it. before this happened my car was running fine. the other day i went to move it and i gave it some gas going in a straight line. i noticed that it wouldn't rev past 4000 rpm. it almost immediately dropped to 3500. i was wondering if you had any idea what the problem may be.

I would check the code in the computer. Then I would get the fuel pump pressure checked.
