Question: EPC Light On

Two weeks ago my husband left the headlights on all day. We obviously had to jump start the car. This last weekend the EPC light came on, and we had some trouble starting the car. It started after a couple of tries though, and the EPC light went off. Then last night it took 3 tries to get the car started and the EPC light came back on. We only drive the car a couple of times a week, and the battery is about 4 years old. Is it possible this issue is solely battery related?

"Electronic Power Control" refers to the drive by wire system. And yes the battery could be the issue. All computers in automotive systems need a stable voltage. If you have a weak battery, it could be causing the issue. A battery and charging system is the first check. Scanning the computer for codes would be the next.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
