Question: Fast idle when cold

1982 dodge ram charger ; I replaced the choke thermostat and when cold it idles very fast .. I stomp the accelerator trying to calm it down after it warms up but nothing .. Untill it's ready to do so it seems .. Please help

Sounds like the choke linkage may be sticky or if it has a choke pull off valve, that may not be working correctly.
