Question: Fuel Pump Issue

Hi I have an 2002 Accent which had it's fuel pump changed by a mechanic in Dec and now they are saying it needs to be replaced as the car is running very rough on initial start up and initial drive but it seems to settle after blowing some smoke and chugging. Of couse, they did a whole bunch of work totaling 500.00 and now they say it the fuel pump which is now 10days over the 100 day warrentee. My question is they said the spark plugs were fouled (these were also replaced in Dec) but the shop guy said this cannot be related to the fuel pump...from what I have read, if the fuel pump is the wrong one - ie more psi than it should be, that is exactly what happens. Can anyone tell me what fuel pump or max psi there should be in the 02 accent. Thanks.

The fuel pressure regulator (attached to the fuel rail) controls fuel pressure. Not the pump.

The pump would not cause too much pressure, and it would be pretty hard to install the wrong one on modern cars.

I can look up the FP spec for you, but I need to know which engine you have, and if it is an automatic or manual transmission.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
