Question: gas cap was lost at a station after filling. "

have already replaced with new gas cap, but the "Service engine soon" light is on. How can I verify that the light is on because of the temporary loss of gas cap, and how can I reset if it if that was the only problem?

You need a scan tool or code reader. That is the only way to check the codes. You can disconnect the battery for 24 hours and the codes will no long be there.
