Question: heating issue

i have 5 setting for the fan and only one works

If only the HI setting works, usually the blower motor resistor is bad.

it starts with 7 with a pic of fan next to it. then it is 1, 2, 3, and 4. only number 3 works.

If it only worked on 4, then it would be the blower motor resistor. If it only works on 3, it is could be the switch. Remove the switch and see if there is power coming out on the leads for the other settings (1,2 & 4). You may find a wiring diagram helpful for the procedure, and you can find that in a repair manual (auto parts store) or sometimes if you search online you can find one for free.
