Question: High RPM 2000 and oil pressure low Stop engine message

Dear all,

I have a 2005 Envoy XL Denali, i have replaced yesturday the oil sensor because the oil meter was playing low to high with flash message "Oil pressure low STOP Engine, Check Gauges. The mechanic successfully replaced the sensor and cleaned the throttle body with battery connection OFF he checked the reading with diagnostics tool and found the data perfect.

I have told him the RPM looks very high i.e 2000 which is not a normal, i have been advised to drive for 30 minutes >100 KM/h to get the normal RPM, i drive for 30 KM but still the RPM is same which in parking, when the truck is on D position the vehcile runs 40KM/H without accelerator.

My Main concern is Oil pressure low message is still appears and high RPM which is causing engine to hot.

Please advise what has to be done to solve these two issues.

Thanks in Advance.

The high idle speed can be caused by the throttle plates being cleaned (if it didn't start until after the cleaning) as the Idle Speed control valve may be sticking now. If it was doing it before, I would check for a vacuum leak.

The oil pressure issue needs to be addressed. It is best to check the oil pressure with a mechanical oil pressure gauge to verify if it is an internal engine issue, or an electronic issue with the gauge/sending unit circuit.

Lastly, if both conditions started at the same time, check your charging system and battery, as low voltage can cause both issues.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
