Question: how can i tell if my brakes are going bad ?

sometimes when i come to a smooth slow stop i would hear sqeeking sound sort of like a bad whistle being blown and when i press on da brake peedle i dont feel a instant stiffness and it takes me longer to come to a full stop i have to push down harder till i feel the pressure (resistance)

That sounds like you need to have a brake inspection. You could have some hardware hanging up, and letting it go could result in an accident.
