How do I test an ecm in a 1991 chevy c1500?

You really don't test the pcm you test around it. If all the input are good then you replace to pcm. So it is to long to tell you how to test all the inputs. You could get a manule or buy a one car subscription to Alldata. Alldata will have the wiring diagrams that will help you diagnode your problem. There is one test that you do. On your year vechicle they use very little solder on the computers. You take the computer out of it's mount. Leave it hooked up. Start the car and hit the computer not to hard. If the engine stumbles you need a new computer.
