Question: how frequently do i need to rotate and balance the tires?

bought brand new tires in july 2012 and had an alignment done. I drove about 2400 miles on the brand new tires. What do i need to have done. I think maybe a tune up, but I also had that done before i drove the 2400 miles. Do i need a rotate and balance and tune up done if not when will i need them?

Rotating is good to do every 6K miles or so. Generally, re-balancing isn't needed unless you get a vibration or tire issue that needs to be fixed.

As to a tune up, if you just had one, you are good to go. Follow your owner's manual recommendations on how often you need to tune it up. Probably every 80K to 100K miles will be what is listed.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
