Question: How much should it cost to replace the starter?

When we try to start the van we sometimes get a clicking sound, all the dash lights come on and even the fan will work, but the engine wont turn over. Sometimes it sounds like it starts to catch but then dies. And sometimes it just starts fine.

Well thats crap, We did it ourselves. In fact we didnt even get all the way to replacing the starter. The contacts were dirty so we cleaned them off, and put everything back together, now it starts just fine...Every Time.
So sick of getting screwed by mechanics.
