Question: How much should it cost to totally rebuild a 2WD automatic trans?

And how much per hour labor. I have a place charging $2k,and seems only 3 to 4th gear shift plates and many small pieces plus torque convert. for $1k parts plus $1k labor ($450 just for removing and installing trans..)

You can get an estimate by clicking on the “repair cost calculator” link on this site, It’s under the “ Service and Repair” tab.

But transmission repair is specialized work, so the estimate should only be used as a guide. I suspect that price is for a complete rebuild which is a common repair for this type of issue.
