Question: how much transmission fluid does it take for my 03 gmc envoy, v6 and do I use a deep pan,

I recently changed the transmission filter and screen on my 03 envoy, after about two weeks the fluid was black again. When I check my fluid, while the engine was hot, I noticed that the fluid extends the second dot on the dip stick. Also the mechanic told me he added about seven quarts, is this correct.

7 quarts should be about right. If you look in your owner's manual under capacities, it should list the exact amount needed.
