Question: How much would it cost to replace engine?

Pulley came loose on car while driving Florida Turnpike. Manifold melted into engine. VW does not want to honor my 24 mos certified warranty. The car has 59,669 miles on it. The car has been serviced regularly as recent as the night before the incident took place.

I would certainly fight back with VW about honoring the warranty. This is exactly why they have a warranty, and why you probably paid a bit more than private party retail.

A used engine is probably your best bet...

Call around to some salvage yards and see what you can find.

Labor to replace the engine is about 15-17 hours book time. A complete new engine from VW is listed at almost $7000, but used engines can probably be found for under $1500
