Question: i changed a fuel pump in a chevy silverodo 1999 and it wont work

i changed a fuel pump in a chevy silverodo 1999 and it wont work i kno its good i have another vhehical i hooked the pump to and work fine.i put a test light in to the wireing harnes win i turn on the key it only lights up for a few seconds.i checked the relay it seemed fine.i all so change 2 fuses in the under the hood fuse box. i hooked a jumper wire to the relay and the pump still will not work what am i missing?
