Question: i have 02 chevy S-10 v6 and some times my truck has a problem with starting. when i turn the key the

i have 02 chevy S-10 v6 and some times my truck has a problem with starting. when i turn the key the dash lights go out but my head lights stay on. some times when i shift it into neutral it will start but that doesnt always work. it normally only does it once a day. i just neeed to know where to start. thanks

I would start by check the voltage at the starter when it's not starting. That is the little wire going to the starter. If you don't have voltage there you need a ignition switch. If you have voltage there and it does not start you need a starter.
