Question: I have a shimmy

At varying speeds. Had front control arm bushings replaced (didn't fix it), have had 2 tires with tread seperation replaced (didn't fix it), have had tires balanced 3 times in past 6 weeks (didn't fix it) Now the mechanic is saying it is all 4 motor mounts are bad and wants $1500 to fix. I just put my studded tires on the other day and shimmy went away. What do you think is going on?
