Question: I hear a high pitch whine sound

it is louder when it is cold outside and it gets louder with higher engine rpm

Where is the noise coming from? Rear of vehicle, under your seat, engine compartment?

Depending on the location of the noise: under hood--check alternator. If under your seat--check fuel pump.

Its a engine copartment noise.............I have read it could be the power stearing pump and flushing it out with Mercon V will help.

If your car is not a hybrid and the power steering pump is expensive, then flushing it is a recommended procedure. If yours is a hybrid, then I believe your steering mechanism is not hydraulic (though it would be wise to double check this with a hybrid technician) and there is no pump.

Remove the engine drive belt and start the vehicle. If the noise is no longer present, check all the components driven by the belt.

Also, there's a ton of hybrid forums you can search through and post on, you're in a separate class of technical knowledge with one of those--a lot of common sense from gas engines doesn't apply.

Taking off the belt will tell you if it is a belt driven how do you know which one is whinnning????????

If you did this test, you would see what components are driven by the belt. That would accomplish the goal of eliminating everything but those components. Most vehicles have an alternator, an a/c compressor, water pump, an idler pulley and a power steering pump (which you probably don't). For a start, you could try spinning the shafts and seeing if you hear any bearing noise... you could also try putting the belt back on and using a stethoscope on each component to see if it is the source of the noise... if nothing showed the noise, you would persevere, knowing that one of those 4 things is the cause, perhaps taking it into a shop for further diagnosis.

But if you haven't even taken off the belt, then we are probably spending too much time speculating and not enough time testing.
