Question: i was told the power steering was leaking.he said the rack &pinion starting to leak

is this the same as replacing the power steering pump? thank you he gave me a price of $450

The rack and pinion is the steering component that is attached to the spindles (which hold the wheels on). The pump drives the fluid that makes the R& P work. They are separate components and either can leak fluid.
