Question: ignition stuck in "on" position but will not start car

ignition turned over and stuck in the on position, but will not go the rest of the way to start engine. i checked the tumblers and they seem to be working fine. im in need of some helpful advice in a bad way. this is my only transportation

Make sure the vehicle is in Park. Can you turn the key to OFF, ON and START? If you can't turn the key, the ignition switch is probably bad.
