Question: is it possible when a axel breaks to kill a engine?

i was driving my car to the repair shop when i got there the axel broke.. i was in the middle of the road and tried to move my car out of the way.. when doin this they said i killed the engine but they just put a new one in. im alittle confused if it was a new engine how i could have harmed the engine?

I'm confused also. Did they mean you killed (stalled) the engine and they put a new axle in? Did you already pay them for the work? It is possible that they are correct, but that's a lot of money and it is fair that you insist on having a clear explanation of what the problem was and what caused it. If you don't understand their explanation, then it is worth taking it to another shop that can explain it to you.
