Question: Is it the ignition lock?

Car won't start. Battery has a full charge. Key turns ignition lock but there is no resistance going from the run to start and key does not rotate back when released. No action from the starter motor, no clicks, zilch. Fuses all good. Will I have to replace the ignition lock or is there another gremlin to check out before pulling the steering column apart?

If you don't feel the tumblers moving when you turn the key in the ignition, it sounds like the ignition switch is bad. You can double-check to see if you have power at the starter (which would mean the ignition switch is working electrically) but the physical symptoms are a strong indication that it's not.
