Question: is the blower motor resistor part of the blower motor?

My cars fan used to work on 3 and 4 and now works sometimes but not others. We know it has to do with the blower motor and is either the motor or resistor or both, we are going to replace the blower motor, so we want to know if that also includes the resistor when you buy a blower motor or if you have to buy them seperate.
