Question: is there problem with timing belt?

In book it saids after so many miles to check this an change that, my question is my car just over 100,000 miles it said to change timing belt. Why an how much will it be?

As a general rule, most manufacturers recommend a timing belt replacement somewhere between 60K and 100K miles, as the belt will eventually break and probably cause severe engine damage.
