Question: jeep looses power

i just replaced the head on my jeep and the altanator is bad but wene i drive it down the road it act like its loosing power plus i got a knocking but i dont think a rod or a lifter should affect power i dont kno please help

If the alternator is bad and the battery is low, it will cause power loss. Here's an article on some other possibilities:
