Question: Jeep whistling noise

When I drive my 2000 Jeep Cherokee, I'm hearing a sharp whistling noise (the colder the weather, the louder the noise). One garage advised to change the manifold gasket intake, the other to replace the throttle body. What should I do? How much would the parts/labor cost?

It’s really hard to diagnose this type of problem long distance. You'll need to have a mechanic listen to it to actually isolate what the noise is.

Since two shops have already looked at it, sorry to say I can't really add much to what could be causing the noise.

Please check our Repair Cost Calculator for a general estimate.
