Question: losing gas

My car currently is wasting way too much gas... I've tried everything and still nothing works.. My car is supposed to be doing 17 in the city and its only doing like 9 so somwthing has to be wrong here. Like i've said i've put money towards this issue and nothing, i've changed the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter and oil change on schedule. I even did a fuel injection cleaning not too long ago. I don't smell any gas whenever I've driven my car so i dont think it can be a leak..So my question is you have any idea mechanically what might be wrong here?? I appreciate your help!!

I would have the mass air flow sensor tested. With that big of a drop you would think the check engine light would be on. That is why I would check the mass air flow sensor. Also when you remove the plugs do they have fuel on them. The last thing is how you are checking your fuel mileage. The best way to check it is to fill the tank. Drive till you need another fill up. Go to the same gas pump and fill it the same way. Then do the math and see what you get.

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
