Question: my 2007 bmwx5 is over heating

if the vehicle idles for at least 10 minutes, i get a warning that it is over heating. if i am stuck in traffic and moving slowly i get the over heating message

I would check the cooling fan operation. sounds like it may not be coming on. Also make sure your coolant level is correct as low coolant can cause this as well. If it is low, have the cooling system pressure checked for leaks as it shouldn't be at this low of mileage.
