Question: my '97 sunfire stalled reverse and is slow to start from a stopped position

my '97 sunfire stalled reverse last night and when i am starting from a stopped position it feels like when you are giving the car gas it isnt picking up in speed right away then it sort of just jerks into going the right speed what is wrong with my car?

From your description, it's hard to tell if the problem is the engine or the transmission. You'll need to focus the troubleshooting on determining which of those it is, first. Having a mechanic drive it, or having the transmission inspected are good places to start.
