Question: my brakes are failing too often.

I own a 2002 Toyota Camry. I had a complete brake job done 2 years ago at 93,000 miles. 4 months ago (at 108,000 miles) I needed new brake pads in the rear and I just had to have new calipers put on (110,000 miles). The mechanic stated that I since I drive my car so little per year (less than 10,000 per year) that every two years ill need to get a brake job because my brakes will rust up from little use. I just want to know if this is true.

Every 2 years you should have your brake fluid flushed, but your brake friction material and hardware only needs to be replaced when the friction material is worn. If you're being told otherwise, you are being lied to.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
