Question: My car makes a thumping noise, but doesnt physically move. What makes this happen?

While at a stop sign, my car will thump. I have to put my car in park so it will stop. It used to do it very rarely. It started about a week ago. Now, it will thump every time it stops. Three to five thumps will occur at one stop sign. Has about eighty thousand miles on it. if you know what this may be, please also give me an estimate to how much this would cost. I want to see a mechanic about this as soon as I get paid.

I would say you need a tune up. You are at the right mileage for it. I would start off with that.
