Question: My car will not start.

I recently had a new alternator put it and the vehicle ran fine until last night. When I attempt to start the vehicle, everything on the information panel turns off. When I attempt to turn the lights on, a very strange humming sound comes from the fuse box. The battery is older and has a small amount of corrosion on the contacts.
