Question: My car wont accelerate sometimes

2003 kia Rio, manual transmission. I was driving home the other night, in fourth gear, and suddenly the car started slowing down. I had to shift down so the car wouldn't die. Then I tried to shift back up and it didn't accelerate. I ended up driving in 2nd gear all the way home. Drove the car the next day and it was fine. But obviously the problem didn't just disappear. What could it possibly b?

Hard to say, but there are probably some stored fault codes related to the problem. Check the codes from the engine computer as a first step.
