Question: My engine is making terrible knocking sounds

We replaced the oil pump (oil light came on when idling). Replaced the bearings too..didn't help. Decided to check for spark knock and distributor, so pulled the spark plug wires off and besides the other noise... Car won't start now either. At wits end on this one. Any ideas?
