Question: my lse has twice had the temp light and decreased engine power

my lse has twice had the temp light and decreased engine power message come on.. yet if i shut it off for a minute it is fine..this happens when the car is not even really hot after a few minutes from start time.. all the levels are good for water , antifreeze etc. it also has a humming noise at the time this happens.. do you think it is a major engine issue..my engine check light is also on
