Question: New Door or Buff and Paint?

I backed into a 99 Chevy Blazer the other day and it left a dent and some paint traded at the bottom of the driver door....I would like to keep it off my insurance and have the money for a new door...would that be the best thing or should i the driver go ahead and take it to the body shop?
