Question: new vechile making weird noises? is that what they call "breaking it in"?

Hello,

I just bought a new 2011 ford fiesta last month, December 2010... i have only about 1200 kms on it, and its starting to make funny noises in the brakes (as if something with rubbing wrong) and whistles and clicks under the hood.. (im not sure where its coming from)
anyways.. the first noise was the one in the brakes...
so i took it to the ford mechanics, we went for a little drive so they could hear the noise... they took it back to the shop, put it in the air and had a look... they couldnt find anything...said that everything looks good , that nothing is rubbing wrong, or loose or wrongly placed.. nothing.. took my brakes apart, there was nothing there, cleaned it up and put the brakes back in... so.. took it for a drive, noise was still there... so they took it back to the shop.. they couldnt find anything... so finally.. they just told me that i should keep driving it til about 5000 kms, thats its most likely a 'breaking in thing' ... which ive heard of, so i just took my car and went home... that was a monday... its not friday and there are about 3 other noises that have started... im a little frusterated because i know nothing about cars so i dont know what to believe.. ive heard about the engine giving off weird smells when its being broken in, but ive never heard of noises in the brakes or other places.. any advice? i have it under extended warranty and everything.. the whistles it makes kinda sounds like its from the timing belt area but it doesnt make a high pitched noise or anything... the clicks happen when i put it in park..

sorry im not the best at asking long typed questions haha.
so i hope i didnt confuse anyone ??
i love my car, and i just dont want things to get worse..
should i take it back?
or do you think it does have anything to do with that breaking in??
im a female driver.. and i really baby my car.. so.. i dont know... i dont speed or take tight corners... i drive highway and city...
i dont know what other info could help...

thanks for your help!! hope it makes sense.. :S

Cynthia.

Take it back. There really isn't a break in period for vehicles anymore. Just be aware that some of the noises you are hearing may be normal for that vehicle, so they may not be able to fix them. But since it is brand new, have them look at it. You paid for the warranty in the purchase price, so you might as well use it.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
