Question: No heat- fan blows cold air! Solution?

I own a 2005 Chevy Impala and recently noticed that the car's heating system doesn't work. The fan only blows cold air! Where should I begin? Would rather avoid a mechanic and the price tag. Thanks!

Check your coolant level. It may be low. If it is you won't get hot air from the heater and the car will over heat.
