Question: oes axle need changed with front cv boot replacement?

I found lots of grease inside my passenger side front wheel well, took it to get checked. They said it is a torn cv boot and that it's easier to replace the axle too with the cv boot. Also, we just had struts replaced on the front and was wondering if they could have nicked the cv boot when doing that job. Had no prior problems with the front end.

It's possible the boot was damaged when the suspension work was being done.

If the joint is in good shape, all you need is the boot. The labor is a bit more but the parts cost a lot less than replacing an axle.
