Question: Oil Change

Hi,
My car is currently 170,000 miles and has no oil burn issue that I am aware of. Manufacturer recommends 5w-20 oil but is it time to change the viscosity of engine oil? Which oil type is better for me? High mileage oils or full synthetic oils from known brands? I live in Ruston, LA so weather is kinda hot here.
