Question: oil leak??

I have noticed dark stains around the top edge of the engine. does it mean some gasket is wearing out??

Yes, that is usually what that means. If it is the top of the engine, that usually is the valve cover gasket, but in order to get an accurate estimate of the repair, you'll need to get an accurate diagnosis. Have a mechanic take a look at it to give you more details.

Check the oil level on the dipstick. If it is not low (your leak is slow) then don't have to rush the repair.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
