Question: Oil leak, Olds Intrique V-6 engine

My 1998 Olds Intrique, V-6 engine, leaks about 1/4 teaspoon of oil after the engine has been running. The leak is from the engine block, just inside the right wheel. It is not from the oil drain plug. It is apparently from a loose seal of some kind. I tried using 10w-40 oil (rather than 10w-30) but it didn't seem to help. Should I try 20w-50? If that doesn't do it, what next?

Sounds like you are describing a front main seal or cam seal leak. Have it diagnosed and repaired to stop the leak. Running thicker oil will not help an appreciable amount.

It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
