Question: P0269 Cyl 3,P0272 Cyl 4,P0284 Cyl 8 contribution/balance fault?

Ive been told my truck has this problem but what exactly does this mean?

Those codes all indicate that cylinders 3.4 and 8 are not contributing any torque--that is a strong indication that there some serious internal damage in the engine. HOWEVER, often the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) is at fault, causing the engine to misfire, and will set these codes. The first step is to replace the CPS and have it retested. If the problem does not go away, the engine/fuel injectors are likely in need of some serious repairs.
