Question: P1643 code on 6.5 diesel

The code has something to do with the wait to start circuit. It started...popped the code. Was able to shut it off and restart it when it was hot. Next day the glow plugs seemed to come on and go off but the engine would not turn over. All I heard was a "click". There seems to be power. I have new batteries and charged them..just to be sure.

Where do I start my troubleshooting??

Anyway to bypass this to get the engine to turn over??

You could need a new starter. Or one of the batterys is dead. I would try and jump start it. On the code it could be the glow plug relay or one of the glow plugs is bad. Take a ohm meter and test the glow plugs one at a time. Make sure to disconnect the wire to the glow plug. They all should be around the same resistance. If one is way higher or lower that is the bad one. Replace it and recheck.

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
