Question: PCV valve is broken and stuck

I have gotten to the PCV valve in the Duratech 3.0L Sable engine. I went to unscrew it and it just crumbled. I was very brittle. It is almost flush now. How do i get it out, do i have to go to then inside and get it, or can i break it off little piece by little piece and have a shop vac there pulling the little pieces out while I am breaking them off?
