Question: pulsating hum noise?

I have a 2005 honda civic that as it is driven has a pulsating humming (kind of a thum...thum...thum rhythm) coming from what seems to be the front passenger side wheel well. The noise is influenced by the speed at which the vehicle is moving. I have tried rotating tires to check if the sound travels, replaced the wheel bearing, checked brakes and rotors, checked for the brake dust cover contacting anywhere as the wheel rotated...I am at a loss as to what it may be. As I apply the brakes the sound gets slightly more audible as if one portion of the pad is contacting the rotor before the other. There is no vibration or pulling as the car is driven though. Any ideas? Could it be a bent wheel hub?

If you replaced the bearing, brakes, and moved the wheels to different positions, it is not a simple fix. I'd suspect a bent cv axle (possibly out of balance) or defective cv joint. It could also be a hub issue, but at this point you might want to have a shop look at it before spending more money on parts that may not fix the issue.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
