Question: Pumping gas pedal to start

I had the fuel pump replaced in 2010 along with strainer and fuel filter. From that time to April of 2013 it hardly ever was driven as I was in a work accident and didn't go anywhere but store a mile away. This started after $3,000 of work was done and a new battery. I mentioned to them that it started right up before and they said probably needing new fuel pump. Could they have taken my new fuel pump? Now it's getting where I have to pump pedal more & more and service engine soon light is coming on. What should I do ?
