Question: "noise" coming from AC

I have a Chrysler 300 touring. My problem is a noise that comes from AC. The unit really performs well and cools the car just fine but the "noise" drives me crazy. The sound seem to come from the front of the car and runs to the rear. I thought at first it had to do with the automatic door locks.( I, of course turned the AC off so that i could better hear the noise and of course with the Ac off there was no noise). My best discription of the sound would be like an electric charge or "ZING".
