Question: rattle when starting up

my truck makes a ugly rattle sound every time i turn it on.but then it goes away and it sound fine.what could it be?

It could be a dry lifter that needs to pump up. Or a piston that is sloppy and needs to worm up. For the lifter one you mite want try a lifter additive. It could free the lifter up.
