Question: Rattling Noise for 5-10mins

My 2007 Nissan Maxima makes a rattling sound when I run the car after is has been sitting for 5-6 hrs. It does not rattle when idling only when running and stops after 5-10 mins. I can hear it more when passing traffic or driving against a wall or center divider. I took it to the Nissan dealership for an inspection and they said the only thing they found was that the air duct for the trans was loose and they tightened the duct, but that didn't stop the rattle. Also checked exhaust and nothing was loose or cracked. Suspension was checked when an alignment was perform less than one month ago and brakes have also been checked. I always use premium gas so that should not be causing the problem. What else could be the problem?

It’s really hard to diagnose this type of problem long distance. You'll need to have a mechanic listen to it to actually isolate what the noise is.

Since you already took it in to the dealer and didn't get it resolved, I'd suggest a test drive with the mechanic so you and they are sure they are hearing the same noise as you. that way if they diagnose it, they can fix it and be sure the noise has been corrected.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
